LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A new initiative, Campus for Hope, is set to bring more transitional housing to Las Vegas, aiming to address the growing homelessness crisis in the valley.
The project is a public-private partnership with a $200 million price tag, half of which is funded by the state.
Governor Joe Lombardo said, “More than just a building, the campus represents the promise of a better future.” He emphasized that the project ensures care for all Nevadans.
Virginia Valentine, President and CEO of the Nevada Resorts Association, highlighted the urgency of the project, noting that recent data from the county shows the homeless population is nearing 8,000 people. Valentine said, “Campus for Hope is a transitional housing facility that will take people who are unhoused and get them into transitional housing. They’ll stay there for 4-6 months and then transition to the next step, supportive housing. But the long-term goal, of course, is permanent housing.”
