Campus for Hope Breaks Ground on Transformational Facility to Address Homelessness in Southern Nevada

Las Vegas (July 22, 2025) – In a pivotal moment in Southern Nevada’s response to homelessness, as Campus for Hope officially broke ground on a new, trauma-informed facility offering comprehensive support for individuals and families experiencing housing instability. The 20+ centrally located acres will be designed to break the cycle of homelessness, for good.

With an estimated 8,000 unhoused individuals across Southern Nevada, and many more living in crisis or on the brink, this project is an innovative, community-led step toward providing opportunities for long-term solutions. Campus for Hope is not a shelter, but a beautiful facility where people will be able to access healthcare, mental health care, case management, workforce training, childcare and housing, enabling individuals and families to stabilize and work to regain their independence.

More than 200 leaders representing state and local governments, the broader business community and non-profit organizations gathered on July 17 for a ceremonial groundbreaking on this innovative campus.

Unlike any other initiative in Nevada to date, Campus for Hope offers not just temporary housing but a path to stability, employment, and permanent housing. This visionary campus is built on the principle that treating people with dignity creates accountability. Services will be available by referral to those ready, willing and able to take the next step forward. This facility will help lift individuals out of crisis while supporting Nevada’s broader economic development and strengthening the local workforce.

Doing nothing, or doing the same things that deliver limited success, is not compassion, it is indifference. This is the time for courage and commitment. Those who see the vision for Campus for Hope understands that this is Southern Nevada’s chance to get it right — for the people who need it most, and for the future we all share.

Operations are expected to begin in 2028. In the months ahead, Campus for Hope will continue its active engagement with surrounding communities and service partners. Campus for Hope will also be opening a community education center later this year for people to learn more about the campus.

QUOTES FROM THE EVENT SPEAKERS

Governor Lombardo:Nevada is leading the way. I want Campus for Hope to continue to be an example of what we’re trying to achieve in our great state. We are building on what is existing here, and we’re going to move it forward, and the entire state is going to be better for it.

Speaker Steve Yeager:I’ve been honored to work on and pass a lot of meaningful legislation over the years. But the Campus for Hope has the potential to have the greatest and longest lasting impact of them all. This will be a project that the entire community will be proud of. This will be a model for other communities who also want to overcome their challenges. And this place will be a beacon of hope for those who want it and need it.

Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts:This project, a significant true public-private partnership will make us more resilient and will allow individuals and families—our fellow Las Vegans—to reestablish themselves and to adapt to difficult conditions. This is something we should all appreciate and value.

Clark County Manager Kevin Schiller:This campus dates back to the 1960s, it’s been serving vulnerable adults. With this effort, we’re modernizing and evolving. Campus for Hope represents a critical step in comprehensive system of care in Clark County. I want to say to the clients, the people that are out there, help is here; come as you are. That is what we are about.

City of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem, Councilman Knudsen:With the private sector support, with leaders, leadership from our governor, from our legislature, from the county and municipalities, we have finally a solution for people who desperately need it. I will be fiercely, fiercely supportive of the people that live here, the neighborhoods that surround this area. And I know this will be the best thing that Las Vegas can provide and an example for the rest of the country.

City of North Las Vegas Councilman Barron: Homelessness is an issue that doesn’t stop at any city or jurisdictional line. Campus for Hope is a shared solution that will require collaboration across all levels of private and government partners. It embodies compassion, dignity and a steadfast belief that every individual has the potential to thrive. This project also symbolizes our ability to lift up others when they need it most.
